we will miss you dad

Keith LaMont Hansen 1938 ~ 2009 Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away at home on October 12, 2009 after a difficult struggle with pulmonary fibrosis.Keith adored his wife and their seven children. His biggest regret was that his illness would take him away from his fairy tale life with all of them. He took great pleasure in camping and hunting as well as watching his sons and grandsons play football. He had a dry sense of humor and a love of knowledge. Keith was born on March 4, 1938 in Ephriam, Utah to Neldon Andrew and Anita Beth Hansen. He moved to the big city of Salt Lake when he was 18. He married the love of his life Grace Laura Dansie on April 12, 1963 in the Manti Temple. Keith worked for 17 years at the State of Utah Engineer's Office. During his career with the state and with the support of his wife he attended school at Utah State University where he majored in geology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. Keith then went on to become the Property and Water Rights Manager for Kennecott Copper Corporation where he worked for 23 years until his retirement 13 years ago. He also worked tirelessly for the North Jordan Irrigation Company for 21 years. He donated countless hours and many years teaching boy scouts life saving survival skills in addition to faithfully serving his church for 13 years as the financial and membership clerk. Keith is survived by his wife Grace; his children Lisa (Mitch) Giles, Denice (Brian) Hyer, Pam (Mike) Borman, Scott (Joann) Hansen, Brad (Katty) Hansen, Mark (Jennifer) Hansen and Kevin (Julie) Hansen; 15 grandchildren (with two on the way); one great grandchild; his sister Patricia (Kimball) Larsen, brother Ronald Hansen; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law Clarence Edgar and Grace Jones Dansie. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Wesley Road Chapel (5290 South 1120 East, Murray) with a viewing one hour prior to services. A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary (5850 S. 900 E., Murray). Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street.
It is strange how in one second life can change forever. One phone call sent us into a panic rush to the hospital on Monday the 12th. It happened too fast, no one was ready or prepared for Keith to leave yet. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering we still wish we were able to have a little more time. Kevin's dad was such a great man. I know that he will be missed dearly by everyone. It is hard for kevin and I to think of life without him. It has been a very long and difficult week for us. The viewing and funeral were so nice. One of the things I will miss most about Keith is the way he would get so cross at someone in front of me and then turn and give me a wink. We love you and will miss you every day!
