montana and canda with hansen family

We were so lucky this summer and got to go up to Montana, Glacier National Park and into Canada, Waterton National Park. Denice and Brian were kind enough to share their family vacation and time share with the Hansen family. It was BEAUTIFUL! Definitely something I would love to do again.

The drive was LONG, about 13 - 14 hours to get to where we stayed in Montana. The kids did so well being in the truck (we lucked out and got to ride with Grace, sorry she had to deal with us :>) I wrapped up little toys and treats in tinfoil that Cole got to open along the way if he was good. It seemed to work pretty well at keeping him happy for most the time. Hallie is just good no matter what so we really lucked out.

The people who were able to make it were: Denice, Brian, Sam, Syd, Gretchen, Juila, Lisa, Blaine, Larissa, Scott, Joann, Mark, Jennifer, Morgan, Grace and us.

Once we were there we did alot more driving to see the sights, hiking, shopping, swimming, hanging out, picture taking (Grace took over 2000 pics, I think) and eating! It reminded me a lot of Yellowstone but more green. The mountains were amazing! There was so much depth to them. We also got to see a ton of wildlife including bears, goats, sheep and deer. The deer up there were definitely different then what I am used to seeing. They were alot lighter and really had white, white spots on them.

The Hyers, Mark and Jen and us were able to get/had passports we ventured into Canada one of the nights. Again it was more driving but I really enjoyed the different side of the park. We stayed in tents the one night up there and the kids loved that. We got to go on a boat ride that actually started in Canada, took us across the border into the US and then back into Canada. It was so pretty. The little town we were in reminded me of a Jackson Hole.

While in Canada we also went to Smashed in Buffalo Rock. It is a museum there where the Indians used to make the Buffalo stampeed over a cliff to kill them and get their meet. One time a poor Indian boy was at the bottom and got smashed! It was quite interesting to see all the Indian articfacts. Also the day we went they put on a program and we got to see some traditional dances and costumes. Cole and the girls actually participated in one of the dances.

We also stopped at a temple in Preston, Canada. It's always fun for me to see temples in other places.

On our way home we got detoured to Logan because of construction so we stopped off and got to see Dee! I swe
It truly was a great trip! If we went again I may plan a bit less driving if possible. It was alot for the kids and me. But it was worth it to see this beautiful, lush part of the world.

Thank you again Hyer Family!
