My mom turned 50 this year! We decided to throw her an amazing movie themed surprise party. She loves going to the movies so we thought it was perfect. We had a movie of her life playing, movie posters, movie themed food (hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, popcorn cupcakes, caramel apples and a candy bar that included her favorite for movies... milkduds)
This party was probably the most time consuming party we have ever done but it turned out awesome. I love doing things with my sisters cause we all like the details and enjoy going all out.
Weeks and hours were spent planning, shopping, plotting, calling my dad a ton, making my mom suspicious, getting child services called on us (that is for another post) and having a great time...
Happy 50th Birthday MOM, we love you...
The awesome invite Jamie made
Getting everything ready - hours, and I mean hours, spent baking cupcakes, cutting hundreds of marshmallows to look like popcorn, dipping caramel apples, gathering tents and tables and chairs from family (THANKS), cleaning and setting up.

The set up -
I spent weeks making tags, banners, poms, a wreath and cupcake toppers.

The popcorn cupcakes, these are all cupcakes!

Kellie was our baking/food genius

The Candy Bar
We made these paper cones for everyone to put their candy in
The Wreath - I LOVED how this turned out. I had planned on making three but didn't have enough time. This took me six, yes I said six, hours to make! To make matters worse I left it on my back door day of party. After working Kevin went to his mom's to finish the movie of my mom. No one had time to drive to my house and get it. I was desperate. I did not spend all that time on it so it could stay on my back door.Luckily I have fabulous in-laws. Larissa and Lisa drove all the way to my house in Pleasant Grove just to get it and brought it back... THANKS YOU GIRLS
The wait - so my parents were camping and my dad had to con my mom into coming home early which she wasn't happy about. Katie had told my dad the wrong time and they were due early so we had to get a hold of my dad and have him stall. By the end of it they didn't show up until 45 minutes after planned. Oh well, that is how surprises go...

The arrival - FINALLY she is here!We made a red carpet (movie themed) that turned into a black carpet (over the hill)

The Party

It was such a great night. Thank you to all our family and friends for coming to celebrate!
